Adobe Patcher installer FAILS!!!
September 5, 2008 | 6 Comments
Hopefully someone at Adobe is listening. The 9.0.2 updater for Flash CS3 is broken. I ran into the issue yesterday when trying to install the AIR extension. Running the 9.0.2 updater results in the following error:

I removed all extensions. Even completely removed and reinstalled Flash. No luck. Looks like others have run into a similar issue with updating Illustrator. The built in updater doesn’t even see this update.
I need to install the AIR extension. Hopefully someone has a way around this.

trying to install silently results in:
$ sudo ./AdobePatcher.app/Contents/MacOS/AdobePatcher -silent
$ 2008-09-05 15:58:21.656 AdobePatcher[7788:c0b] Exit code: 6
anyone have a download link other than the one listed here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html#flashCS3
made some progress, but still failing.
did some digging into the AdobePatcher app contents and found a PatcherApplication app in the Resources. Tried running:
$ sudo ./AdobePatcher.app/Contents/Resources/PatcherApplication.app/Contents/MacOS/PatcherApplication -silent
This does not fail, but doesn’t appear to do anything either. Or did it?
Tried using the Updates functionality of Flash. The Updater is now finding updates. It downloads them, then goes to install them and this is what I get:

ugh! Either updater contents aren’t complete. Or there is a weird permission error on my machine, or something.
Mike, did you ever get this running properly and if so, how?
It’s like that for Fireworks, too.
I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. My new Adobe Reader 9.0 won’t update! Any ideas .. Patches?
